LET'S TALK ABOUT RED!

Valentine's Day is around the corner so let's talk about red!

Red is a beautiful classical color and a great way to spice up your whole look.
In psychology, red symbolizes love, passion, and energy, as well as sexuality. Red is a very active and even aggressive color. If you have a lot of red pieces in your wardrobe, you can be described as a brave, purposeful, but a rather hot-tempered person who likes to be in the center of attention and lead the process. If you intuitively avoid red color, psychologists say that you don't like to attract too much attention to yourself - you are calm, but maybe a little unsure of yourself.

Red is one of the brightest colors and red clothes immediately attract attention to you. People tend to associate vibrant color with energy, movement, and excitement. Many people avoid choosing red outfits because it seems that such a self-sufficient color is very difficult to combine with other colors and shades, but I'd say wearing stunning red things isn’t as difficult as it may seem. In this post, I will give few elegant designer rules that will help you to learn how to wear red and how to mix it into your wardrobe.

HOW TO MIX RED INTO YOUR WARDROBE?

Every time I have a customer who can't decide whether to go for a red piece or not, I recommend being careful with the choice because nobody wants to have stunning clothes they don't wear. Red is an aggressive color and sometimes it may seem "too much" in the morning if you are not in the mood for red on this particular day. I suggest diluting red with other colors. For example, if you have a red blouse, then style it with a skirt or pants and jacket of neutral color (for example, black, gray, white or beige), also accessories of a calmer tone. In that case, your entire outfit won't look too aggressive.

There are different shades of reds, for example, coral, deep red, burgundy, ruby, fire, etc, so I suggest choosing not just a red, but the red tone that compliments your skin tone. That is why it's possible not to avoid this beautiful and powerful color in your wardrobe. If you don't want to stand out too much, just pick a deeper shade of red that is timeless and possible to style with different garments and accessories.

In conclusion, when starting to mix red into your wardrobe, there are 6 easy steps I suggest following:

  • First step, start by indicating your skin tone and which - warm or cold tones - suit you the best.

  • Second step, choose the shade of red that suits the rest of the garments you already have.

  • Third step, choose the clothing type that you want to be in red.

  • Fourth step, style your red piece(s) with neutral and calmer colors if you don't want to stand out too much.

  • Fifth step, go for bright red and all red outfits if you want to make a statement.
  • Sixth step, don't forget, that sometimes it's enough to have red as an accent color.

It's all about harmony and balance.
As my brand manager recently wrote me after she had received her Marimo deep red Actaea blouse:

"Flawless elegance and femininity in one blouse, this shirt replaced all the other casual office shirts! Dare to be a lady in red, feminine, self-confident, radiant!".
